AboutOurMoment

OurMoment was born as an idea that on one campus there are many groups that work to further varying causes that affect human beings. The broad topic of international development encompasses the interests of student groups, NGOs, academics and professionals alike. OurMoment serves as a locus for these diverse groups and individuals to network, in hopes that this interaction will lead to mutually-beneficial relationships and coordination.

The name "OurMoment" came from a conference held on Georgetown's campus in the fall of 2005. The conference stressed the fact that the world's current resources allow for an unprecedented movement toward lessening world inequity provided that there is a strong enough will on the part of the rich and poor alike. The world's younger generations have a special responsibility to take advantage of this opportunity and resist the inertia of the status quo. Through cooperation, dialogue and well-placed action, substantial gains can be made toward the alleviation of poverty worldwide.

Our Moment acts a regional forum to showcase possibilities that are feasible -- feasible because our close proximity allows us to learn from one another, contribute to one another's causes, and get involved in one another's events.
