Our Moment Affiliate Groups
Our Moment would like to start a directory of development-related groups, sorted by campus as well as by issue. Affiliate groups would be able to utilize the Our Moment listserv and website as a means of promoting events, recruiting new members, and highlighting their own initiatives and accomplishments.
If your DC-area student group is dedicated to fighting any development issue, such as HIV/AIDS, extreme poverty, child survival, etc., we would like to include you in our group database. Please send an email to ourmoment@gmail.com with the name of your group, a contact email, a sentence describing your group, and the group's website, if applicable.
Campus Group Mentors
Our Moment seeks to link campus leaders with students who are interested in starting their own organizations/initiatives on their campus, whether it be a new branch of a group in existence elsewhere or an entirely new entity. Campus Group Mentors would use their experience to share information and advice about organizing activities like lobbying days and conferences. Group leaders will also have a forum to discuss awareness initiatives and activities they are organizing on their campuses.
If you are a student leader, and would be interested in providing guidance to students just launching their own groups, please contact ourmoment@gmail.com for more information.
Start a Chapter of Our Moment
The broader mission of Our Moment is to unite DC-area students working in a variety of organizations around the framework of the Millennium Development Goals. However, there is also a place for Our Moment chapters at individual campuses. Our Moment-Georgetown works to form partnerships between groups on their campus in the interest of raising awareness about the MDGs. They have also organized a database for International Service, and provided a list of development-related classes for interested students.
If you are interested in starting a chapter on your campus, we strongly recommend that you attend the Fall 2006 Conference at Georgetown University, or contact ourmoment@gmail.com for information and details.
